Aircon Installation Cost GC 2026: The Real Price (From $1,610)

July 1, 2026

Let’s get the number out of the way first, because that’s what you actually came here for. Air conditioning installation on the Gold Coast starts from $1,610 inc GST, fully installed. That’s supply, install, and Wi-Fi control – no hidden extras tacked on later. That price covers a standard single-room split system in a straightforward setup. Bigger rooms, longer pipe runs, multi-head systems, or ducted air con will cost more – and we’ll break down exactly why below. If you’re reading this in July, you’re actually in the best position to book. Winter is quiet season for air con installers on the Gold Coast, which means shorter wait times, more flexible install dates, and installers who aren’t racing between six jobs a day trying to keep up with a heatwave. Get it sorted now and you’ll be sitting in a cool room in November instead of waiting three weeks for a callback.

What’s actually included in the cost

“From $1,610 inc GST” isn’t a teaser price with a dozen add-ons waiting to appear on your invoice. For a standard split system install, that figure includes:

  • The unit itself (indoor head + outdoor condenser), matched to your room size
  • Full installation – mounting brackets, refrigerant piping, electrical connection, and commissioning
  • Wi-Fi control so you can run it from your phone
  • GST – the price you see is the price you pay

What it doesn’t automatically include: extra-long pipe runs beyond standard length, switchboard upgrades if your electrical setup can’t handle the new unit, or removal of an old system if that’s part of the job. We’ll flag any of these clearly on your quote before we start – nothing gets added on the day without you knowing about it first.

What affects your quote

Every home is different, and so is every quote. Here’s what actually moves the number up or down:

Room size and system sizing (kW). A 2.5kW unit suits a small bedroom. A large open-plan living area might need 7kW or more. Get the sizing wrong and you’ll either pay for capacity you don’t need, or end up with a unit that runs constantly and never quite cools the room. This is the single biggest factor in your price.

Single split vs multi-head vs ducted. A single split system (one indoor unit, one outdoor unit) is the cheapest way to cool one room. A multi-head system runs multiple indoor units off one outdoor unit – good for two or three rooms without cluttering your yard with condensers, but pricier per room than ducted once you’re cooling four or more spaces. Ducted air conditioning covers the whole house through ceiling ducts with one central system – higher upfront cost, but often the better long-term value for larger homes.

Brand. Entry-level models start under $1,000 for the unit alone; premium ranges cost more but usually come with better warranties and quieter operation.

Pipe run length. Standard installs assume a few metres between indoor and outdoor units. If your outdoor unit needs to sit further away – say, on a second-storey wall or the far side of the house – extra pipe, extra bracketry, and extra labour add to the cost.

Electrical work. Older Gold Coast homes, especially character homes in areas like Southport or Mermaid Beach, sometimes need switchboard upgrades to safely run a larger system. We check this during your site visit so there are no surprises.

The gap between $1,610 and $17,000 sounds huge, but it’s really just two different jobs – cooling one room versus cooling an entire house. Most Gold Coast homeowners start with one or two split systems in the bedrooms and living area, then look at ducted later if they’re doing a renovation or building new.

Brands we install

We install and service four brands on the Gold Coast, each suited to slightly different budgets and priorities:

LG – Strong all-rounder with dual inverter technology, good energy efficiency, and competitive pricing. A solid default choice for most homes.

Fujitsu / GENERAL – Known for quiet operation and durability in Australian conditions. Popular with Gold Coast customers who want a system that just keeps working without fuss.

Daikin – The premium option. Higher upfront cost, but excellent energy efficiency and among the longest track records of any brand sold here. Worth it if you’re planning to stay in the house long-term and want to minimise running costs.

Hisense – The budget-friendly option without cutting corners on core performance. Good for spare rooms, studies, or anywhere you want reliable cooling without the premium price tag.

We’re happy to talk through which brand suits your specific room and budget during your quote – there’s no upsell script here, just what actually makes sense for your house.

$0 upfront finance options

If you’d rather spread the cost than pay it all at once, interest-free finance is available through providers like Zip and Humm, subject to approval. Depending on the plan, you can pay off your new system over terms ranging from a few months up to several years with no interest charged, though some providers apply a small monthly account-keeping fee. Ask us about current finance offers when you book your quote – promotions change regularly and we’ll tell you exactly what’s available right now, including any conditions attached.

Getting an accurate quote for your home

Every number on this page is a guide, not your final price – and we’d rather tell you that upfront than have you feel misled later. Room size, wall construction, ceiling access, existing electrical capacity, and even where the sun hits your house all affect what system you actually need and what it’ll cost to install.

That’s why we do a proper site visit before quoting. It takes about 20–30 minutes, costs nothing, and means the number we give you is the number you’ll actually pay – not a rough estimate that changes once we’re on-site.
